Tips for a standout CV, straight from our Talent team...
If you're applying for a role at Blue Light Card, we want to help you put your best foot forward. Here's some quick and easy tips to make sure your CV stands out and gives us everything we need to see how awesome you are!
1. Tailor your CV to the job
Every application to Blue Light Card is reviewed by our Talent Acquisition team based in the UK. We’re real people (not AI!) looking for experience and skills that align with the requirements listed in the job advert.
A few simple tweaks to your CV, to tailor your experience to the job description, can make all the difference in making sure your initial CV screen is successful!
2. Keep it short
We review a lot of applications every day, so a clear, concise CV helps us to pull out key information and make decisions, quickly. Aim for around 2 pages, using bullet points and short sentences to keep it succinct.
If your CV is creeping past 3 pages (or you’re shrinking the font to fit everything in), then take a step back and ask yourself... what is adding the most value? Prioritise what really sells your skills and aligns to the role.
3. Make it clear and consistent
There’s a lot of information out there on how best to format your CV, and the advice can vary dependent on your profession, location and what stage you’re at in your career.
To keep it simple, we’d love to see a clean layout with clear headings, dates and consistent formatting throughout. For any design or creative roles, you may want to showcase your skills and make your CV visually stand out too!
4. Show off your wins
Think of it like telling your best work stories - what are the standout moments in your career? Did you boost sales, streamline a process, or lead a successful project?
Make sure we can clearly see these key achievements in your experience, and back it up with numbers (where possible) to show the impact you’ve had.
5. Keep it professional
When putting your CV together, it’s best to stay focused on your skills and experience. You don’t need to include personal details that aren’t relevant – save the fun facts for later! Keep the language clear and professional, avoid using company-specific jargon, and remember to proofread.
If you want to let your personality shine, your cover letter or pitch (both optional) is the perfect place to do that.
6. Address any gaps
Life happens! If you've had a break in your career, that’s okay! Whether you were traveling, studying, or taking time for personal reasons, a simple note will provide helpful context and show that you’re ready to move forward in your career.

We love in-person collaboration, so none of our roles are fully remote. However, we do offer hybrid working, with colleagues spending 3 days a week in our Sydney office.
