At Blue Light Card, our mission is to support and celebrate those who serve communities with unwavering dedication - from emergency services to healthcare, defence, and education sectors. Founded in the UK in 2008, we now have more than 6 million members globally. We launched in Australia in 2022 with the same commitment to supporting those who serve. This is an opportunity to be part of a team driving the next chapter of Blue Light Card’s journey, blending purpose with measurable commercial success.
The role:
We are looking for a Strategic Projects Manager who is equal parts commercial operator and generalist problem-solver. Reporting to the Head of Operations & Strategy, you will drive business performance through strategic planning, operational excellence, and execution of high-impact projects across the Australian business.
This is a generalist role in the best sense - you will own ambiguous work that spans teams and disciplines. From product and commercial performance to data, marketing and member operations, you will bring structure, rigour, and momentum to work that would otherwise fall through the cracks.
It’s a varied role. One week you’re building a business case for a new partner model; the next you’re untangling a cross-functional product problem with engineering, marketing, and member ops. You’ll need to be comfortable with ambiguity, quick to get up to speed, and good at moving things forward without a lot of handholding.
What you’ll do
● Own cross-functional projects end to end - from scoping and stakeholder alignment through to delivery. This could be launching a product feature, evaluating a new partner model, improving in-store promotions, or solving a member experience problem that cuts across teams
● Bring structure to ambiguous problems - define the right questions, map the moving parts, and work through the answer with the people who need to be involved
● Be the connective tissue - you’ll regularly work across product, engineering, marketing, member ops, and commercial. You don’t need to be an expert in all of them, but you need to be able to work fluently with people who are
Support business planning - quarterly plans, monthly business reviews, and the right operating cadence to keep teams aligned and working at pace
● Quantify opportunities - size commercial impact, cost, and effort to drive trade-offs and sequencing decisions
● Improve how we work - spot gaps in our processes or decision-making. We’re still building and learning there’s plenty of room to make things better!
● Support our operating cadence for Australia - weekly standups, monthly performance reviews, and quarterly planning
What you’ll bring:
● At least 5+ years of experience in strategy, product, consulting, or commercial roles. You’ll have a track record of leading complex, cross-functional products or projects
● Product-minded - you can work with technical teams, understand roadmaps, and make well-rounded decisions
● Comfortable with data - you can dig into customer or commercial data to find the answer
● You’ve worked in a fast-moving, early-stage environment before & you know what it feels like to build something without waiting for instruction
● A consulting background, or experience in rewards, marketplaces, or loyalty platforms would get you up to speed quick
Who you’ll be:
● You want to build, not just manage - you’re excited by the early stages of something, not just maintaining what’s already there
● You’re adaptable - priorities shift, things change, and you roll with it without losing momentum
● You’re a problem solver- ambiguity motivates you
● You hold yourself to outcomes - You care whether the thing worked, not just whether it got done
● You pride yourself on your relationships - you build trust with people across different functions and know how to move work forward without direct authority
What's on offer:
● A competitive base salary + quarterly bonus
● 24 days annual leave + your birthday off + volunteer & moments that matter leave
● $1,000 health insurance contribution, a personal development fund, generous parental and fertility leave & your own BLC card
● Hybrid working - we work 3 days in our Sydney CBD office and favour outcomes over hours.
If you want to make a real impact for Australia's essential workers, and help build something that genuinely matters - we'd love to hear from you!
